Located near the base of Pinnacle Peak, Troon North Golf Club offers two 18-hole courses designed by British Open Champion Tom Weiskopf.  Both renowned courses, Monument and Pinnacle, showcase views of giant boulders, abundant cacti, and luxury homes built along the foothills of Pinnacle Peak.  GOLF Magazine has named both courses two of the Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the United States.  These world-class courses are best suited for experienced players who love a challenge, so be sure to bring your game.  Afterwards, stop at the Dynamite Grille for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.  Troon North Golf Club offers picture-perfect views on every hole, impeccable service, a natural pace of play, and a memorable game for skilled players.

Located on the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation land, the award-winning courses at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club offer an immersive desert experience.  There are no homes or roads nearby, which means you’ll be playing in total peace and quiet.  Both courses, Cholla and Saguaro, are open to the public, and the club offers competitive deals year-round.  The Cholla Course was designed by Scott Miller, and Saguaro was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw.  These stunning, tranquil courses with uninterrupted mountain views are consistently named some of the best courses in Arizona.  Sports Illustrated named Cholla one of the “10 Best New Public Courses in the World” after its debut.  Frequent patrons can’t say enough good things about the clubhouse restaurant, so you might want to work up an appetite after your game.  If you’re longing for a relaxing round of golf away from the noise of the city, plan your next trip to We-Ko-Pa Golf Club.

The 18-hole course at the Estancia Club was named the #1 Private Golf Course in AZ in 2019 by Golf Digest.  Designed by Tom Fazio, the diverse course offers over 7,000 yards of land on the northern side of Pinnacle Peak.  Open to members of the Estancia Club and guests, the course showcases immaculate green fairways, beautiful views of the mountain, nearby estates, desert ravines, and vibrant yellow wildflowers.  You might enjoy the clubhouse as much as the golf course at the Estancia Club; amenities include a fitness center, swimming pool, jacuzzi, massage therapy, tennis courts, and more.  For golfers in search of a great long-term membership with a fantastic private course, consider the appealing experience at the Estancia Club.

The Boulders Club

This semi-private club at the Boulders Resort in Carefree is renowned in the Southwest for its championship North and South courses designed by Jay Morrish.  You’ll see views of Black Mountain, massive rock formations, and native animals along these scenic courses.  A consistent recipient of Golf Magazine’s Gold Medal Award, the Boulders Club offers a thrilling challenge for experienced players from around the country.  The South course is a more difficult option that involves target golf, whereas the North course is more varied and accessible for players with a range of abilities.  While you’re there, you’ve got to take a lesson from award-winning PGA and LPGA instructors at the club’s Golf Academy to improve your skills.  There aren’t too many places where you are able to learn firsthand from the pros, and that is what makes this facility so exceptional.  The Boulders Club is a great option for those who want to expand their golfing circuit beyond the Scottsdale favorites.

There are so many award-winning golf courses in the Valley that we can’t even name them all.  If you are a lover of golf, it’s safe to say that you’re in the right state.  Whether you’re looking for an elaborately-designed public course with great views or a more private course with five-star amenities, any of these world-ranked golf clubs will surpass your expectations.  The next time it’s sunny and 75 degrees, get ready to tee up at any of these local destinations.
