Self Representation

Self Representation

Thinking of Buying a Home on Your Own?

This is called self-representation, where there is no REALTOR® involved on one side of the transaction. The homebuyer or home seller is choosing to represent themselves throughout the transaction process.

There are a few major pain points to self-representation. With self representation, it can be easy for another party to take advantage of you, which is why this option is not recommended.

  • While there is a lot more information available online now about property details and how to correctly price a home, the role a REALTOR® agent plays in the process goes much further beyond what you can research and learn online.
  • The home buying process is a complicated one and your REALTOR® will be able to assist you with a strategic plan through every step of the process.

While you might be very knowledgeable about real estate, having a REALTOR® will give you a major advantage in the process in ensuring you have a third party person helping you make educated and competent decisions along the way.

If price is a factor, don’t worry! REALTORS® typically do not charge an upfront payment,  so there is no cost involved until the home purchase is complete.

  • Buying a home is one of the largest financial and emotional decisions of most people’s lives, so having proper guidance from an agent you trust is an invaluable part of the process.
