Barrett-Jackson, the renowned collector car auction house based in Scottsdale, has long made the Phoenix Valley a hotspot for car enthusiasts with its annual January auction at WestWorld of Scottsdale. Now, the company is introducing a new and unique event to the automotive calendar-the Scottsdale Fall Auction.
From October 10-13, the highly anticipated Scottsdale Fall Auction will take place at WestWorld. This event is designed to build on the massive success of their January auction, which set a record in 2024 by selling 2,016 cars and 1,180 pieces of automotive memorabilia, generating a staggering $207.6 million – the highest total for any single auction in the company’s history.
While the fall auction won’t be as extensive as the weeklong January event, Barrett-Jackson’s CEO and chairman, Craig Jackson, is optimistic about its impact. He believes the fall auction will attract a fresh crowd, including younger generations, without alienating the company’s core audience.
“We’re really creating a unique event here in October,” Jackson said. “We’re thinking about what millennials and Gen Zs want to see while still providing everything for our core customers.”
This year’s event will feature a diverse collection of over 800 vehicles for auction, with around 200 cars going under the hammer daily. Saturday night, in particular, is expected to draw a crowd similar to the most significant nights of the January auction, with cars fetching similarly high prices.
“Close your eyes on Saturday, and you won’t be able to tell if it’s October or January,” said Steve Davis, Barrett-Jackson’s president.
Barrett-Jackson previously hosted a fall auction in Scottsdale in October 2020, one of the first significant events after the pandemic-related shutdowns, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Jackson has since spent years planning how to make this event a regular part of the company’s calendar.
“We’re in this for the long term,” Jackson said, emphasizing the company’s commitment. “The car community loves it, and I think it will only grow from here.”
Many attendees, Jackson noted, are staying in the Valley beyond the auction, with some renting homes and planning to remain in Scottsdale until the January event.
In 2022, IMG, an Endeavor company known for organizing significant events across sports, fashion, and media, acquired a majority stake in Barrett-Jackson, helping to develop its automotive experiences further. This partnership has enabled new additions to the fall auction, including the World Food Championships’ Southwest Chef Showdown, which will feature up to 30 top chefs competing during the event.
Alongside the culinary offerings, Barrett-Jackson has created new spaces for attendees to socialize and enjoy the auction, all with the goal of drawing a younger, more diverse audience.
Several high-profile vehicles will be featured at the fall event, including cars once owned by rock legend Sammy Hagar and boxing champion Canelo Alvarez.
